About the Authors

N

Nora Vega, MSN, RN, CCRN

Nora Vega has been a registered nurse for more than fifteen years, most of them at the bedside of critically ill patients and the families who wait beside them. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing in Nursing Leadership and Administration from Capella University and is certified in critical care nursing (CCRN). She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Nora believes the best nursing happens when you look at the person, not just the monitor, and that belief runs through everything she writes. She and her husband, Daniel LaRusso, have been married since 2000 and write every book together: Nora brings years of intensive care experience and a gift for the human side of a story, and Daniel brings his dialysis nursing background and a technical mind.

Together they wrote the novel What the Monitor Can't See and the ICU guide Thinking Like an ICU Nurse Can Drive You Crazy: So Let's Make It Fun. You can expect more books from Nora and Daniel, in health care and well beyond it, each one shaped by their own life experience, their travels and the way they live. They hope you enjoy reading them as much as they enjoyed writing them.

Daniel LaRusso, BSN, RN, CDN

Daniel LaRusso is a registered nurse and certified dialysis nurse. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baylor University and also holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, a combination that shapes how he works: he cares for patients on dialysis and also knows the machines that keep them alive, from blood pumps to water systems. He believes patients deserve to understand their treatment, one clear step at a time.

Daniel and his wife, Nora Vega, have been married since 2000 and write every book together. Nora brings more than fifteen years of critical care experience and a master's degree in nursing leadership; Daniel brings his dialysis experience and a technical eye for making complicated things simple.
